Picasso's 'Family of Saltimbanques' (1905)
A wandering troupe of acrobats and harlequins adrift in an empty ground. Society counted such performers negligible. Picasso - young and impoverished - felt a kinship with them in his Rose Period. He appears as the harlequin in the diamond-patterned costume. The troupe that owns nothing but each other.
