Bada Imambara, built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula of Awadh, is one of Lucknow’s most famous architectural marvels. It was constructed as part of a major famine-relief project, giving work to thousands of people for years. The complex includes the Asfi Mosque, the world-famous Bhool Bhulaiya labyrinth, and a stepwell called Shahi Baoli. The main hall of the Imambara is remarkable for being one of the largest arched halls without any supporting beams or pillars.
