Zaïffer is a privacy protocol built as a joint venture between Zama and Pyratz Labs, launched in November 2025 with €2 million in funding. It introduces a universal confidentiality layer directly on top of existing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchains like Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. Unlike traditional privacy solutions (e.g., mixers, privacy coins, or ZK-based L2s), Zaïffer leverages Zama's Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology—specifically the TFHE scheme—to enable end-to-end encrypted computations without requiring users to migrate to new networks, change wallets, or rewrite smart contracts. This makes private transactions seamless and composable with existing DeFi applications.
