1. downplay nazi holocaust
Björn Höcke, leading AfD figure, referred to Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial as a “monument of shame” and called for a “180-degree turn” in Germany’s remembrance culture. suggesting he wants to minimize the acknowledgment of Nazi crimes.
Alexander Gauland, former AfD co-leader, described the Nazi era as “just a speck of bird’s muck in more than 1,000 years of successful German history,” trivializing the significance of the period.
2. talk like nazis
Björn Höcke was fined for using the banned Nazi slogan “Alles für Deutschland” (“Everything for Germany”) during a speech.
Alice Weidel has openly advocated for “remigration,” a euphemism used by the far right for the forced deportation of immigrants, an idea reminiscent of the ethnic cleansing policies of the Third Reich.
