Lovecraft excelled at building a chilling atmosphere and crafting a unique mythos.
However, he was notably poor at writing dialogue and developing deep characters.
Most significantly, his blatant racism is impossible to ignore.
Despite this, he remains an important, if problematic, cornerstone of horror.
