There are plenty of reasons V for Vendetta still works 20 years later, but one of the biggest is V himself. Even though the character spends the entire film hidden behind that now-iconic Guy Fawkes mask, he still comes across as theatrical, wounded, dangerous, funny, and weirdly moving all at once.
