Why does Singapore ban vapes and not cigarettes?
Health Minister of Singapore explains, The idea that vaping is a “safer step down” from smoking is misleading.
One vape pod can contain as much nicotine as 20–60 cigarettes, and because it doesn’t burn out like a cigarette, people can puff all day, often in private, ending up with an even higher nicotine intake.
The sweet smell and attractive flavors make vapes especially appealing to young people, turning them into a gateway to smoking rather than a solution. That’s why banning vapes from the start was the right move.
