How much does luxury cost?
Authorities in Italy have uncovered shocking truths behind the actions of several high-end fashion brands.
An investigation found that subcontractors producing Dior bags were paid just €53 (approximately Rp1 million) per bag, while the same products were sold for nearly €2,600 (approximately Rp50 million) in official stores.
This production was largely outsourced to workshops run by Chinese companies.
Workers reportedly received just €2–3 per hour (approximately Rp38,000–58,000), lived on-site, and labored in poor conditions to meet deadlines.
The police raids are part of a larger investigation into alleged worker exploitation in the luxury brand's supply chain.
The case has sparked global outcry and highlighted the dark side of labor costs in the high-end fashion industry.
