Here's the raycaster with release build settings, and this is also a good demonstration of why you want to get _statistics_, not just a count. This shows that while I can get 1008 FPS, the mean is 500 and the stddev is 125. That means it actually will go from 375 to 725 which is a fairly wide range. I mean, most people wouldn't notice at that speed but you'd want to smooth that out as much as possible.

Keep in mind that the way this raytracer works is kind of weird because of how SFML works. It actually is updating an external buffer of pixels, then copying them to a texture. SFML is then rendering that texture on a sprite that fits the right hand side and that is then sent to the GPU to display. Yes, it's weird but works.
