Stanford Medicine created a wireless eye implant for severe macular degeneration. It's called the PRIMA chip.
Paired with smart glasses, it uses infrared light to take over for damaged photoreceptors.
Most people in the trial got useful vision back, allowing them to read books and see signs.
Teams are now building higher-resolution models aiming for near-normal sight.
