• The difference between sadness and depression : Sadness is a normal and healthy reaction to the loss of something, such as a loved one or a favorite place. The grieving person knows what or who they have lost and tries with all their being to get it back. Therefore, the grieving person does not lose hope and has a sense of competence and worth . In depression, there is very little hope and the person has irrational beliefs. The person believes in their own helplessness and will not make the slightest effort to solve problems.
