New York prosecutors challenge DCG and CEO Barry Silbert's motion to dismiss case
The New York State Attorney General's Office challenged DCG and its CEO Barry Silbert's motion to dismiss the case from prosecution.
In February, the department tripled the size of the alleged fraud to more than $3 billion in a case against Gemini, Genesis and Digital Currency Group.
Initially, the lawsuit accusing the companies and their management of defrauding 230,000 investors was for $1 billion.
In May 2024, Genesis received court approval to distribute $3 billion in fiat money and cryptocurrencies to its creditors.
