Happy Chinese New Year. 🧧 🐉 Burj Khalifa usually has special light shows for Chinese New year and the Dubai Mall is decorated very festively for the month. Probably the most interesting city to spend new years than in Asia.

Dotonbori part of Osaka is pretty cool though, especially at night when all the stores light up their colorful signs. I’m not a big shopper, especially when I’m traveling (I try to fit everything in a carryon and bag pack) but I do love to eat and the smell of walking by interesting restaurants.

Maybe it’s because I lived in Boston for 7 years, NYC for 4, Chicago for 10 so normal modern city doesn’t make me go woah unless it’s super futuristic like Dubai.

Also about hour-ish train ride away from Kyoto is city of Osaka. Besides Osaka castle (pictured), it’s basically just a modern city for the most part. Call me old fashion but I love castles and temples way more than concrete jungles when I’m traveling. 1/2

There must have been hundreds of them running all over the place. Usually deers are afraid of people but not the animals ones in Nara. Not only they are not afraid, some of them are a little pushy and if you don’t give them food, they will chase you around and try to bite you. 2/2

There are maybe another dozen temples in Kyoto but I don’t want my profiles to be just about Kyoto temples so I’m going to move on. A short train ride away from Kyoto is Nara. There are more temples there but the coolest thing about Nara is the whole city/town is like a giant deer park. 1/

The area nearby is pretty cool to walk around. Makes you feel like you travel back a few hundred years to old Japan. 2/2

The pagoda at Kiyomizudera Temple is pretty especially when you go on a sunny day and the contract with the sky is just perfect. 1/

Out of 45-50 countries I have been, I really don’t think I know any country that use coins as much as Japan.

Kinkakuji Temple aka the Golden Pavilion is probably the second must see spot in Kyoto. The scenery is just gorgeous there. There is a wishing well toward the end which is perfect because after a few days in Japan, you will have more coins than you want to carry around. 1/

I lived in Dubai for 2 months. Best part is there are gorgeous skyscrapers everywhere. It’s super safe and the light show off burj khalifa (especially NYE) is super awesome. Worst part is way too many superficial people. Also it can get super hot if you go wrong time of the year.

stopping and taking pictures can create quite a traffic jam. So we woke up 5AM in the morning went before the crowd. I would definitely recommend it to do that if you want to get some good pictures without other people in it. 2/2

Most people think of Tokyo when they think of Japan. But in my opinion, Kyoto is the best Japan has to offer. So much history and unique spots to visit. The first on the must do list is Fushimi Inari Shrine. Since it’s a very popular spot and there is only one path up the mountain and everyone 1/
