How Does Staking Differ from Mining in Crypto?
Staking and mining are methods of securing blockchain networks, but they work differently. Mining, used in Proof of Work (PoW) blockchains like Bitcoin, requires solving complex mathematical puzzles using high-energy hardware. Staking, used in Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchains like Ethereum 2.0, allows users to lock up tokens to validate transactions and earn rewards. Staking is more energy-efficient and accessible since it does not require expensive mining equipment. However, both methods involve risks such as price volatility and security vulnerabilities.
