Contemporary art serves as a mirror, critic, and catalyst in society. It challenges dominant narratives, exposes power structures, questions identity, gender, race, ecology, and technology, and provokes public dialogue on urgent issues. Through provocation, irony, participation, and new media, it disrupts complacency, gives voice to marginalized perspectives, imagines alternative futures, and makes visible what is often ignored or suppressed. Rather than merely decorating, it functions as a social practice—intervening in reality, fostering critical thinking, and expanding the boundaries of what is thinkable and sayable.https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/c/contemporary-art
