Beijing Lama Temple, the world's tallest wooden Maitreya Buddha [Beijing Lama Temple Wooden Buddha] This giant Buddha was carved during the Qianlong period, using more than 80,000 taels of silver and the trunk of a precious sandalwood tree. It is 26 meters high, 18 meters above ground (8 meters buried underground), and weighs about 100 tons. It is the largest single-wood statue in China.
