Anthropic CEO says AI could eliminate half of all entry-level white-collar jobs

What is the upside for an AI company to make statements like this? Does it actually result in net gain for the value of Anthropic?

OpenAI is controlled by a non profit which is prohibited by law from distributing profits to individual shareholders whose mission is "AGI that benefits all of humanity"

Anthropic is a Public Benefit Corporation whose mission is to create "Safe and reliable AI aligned with human values"

(where Human values is a euphemism for western liberal academic values)

What is their ultimate goal in your opinion? I actually think it is indeed profits and company valuation.

AI companies are not run by people who care about profits by the way. Their goal is something entirely different.

Plus urgency to restructure all businesses around AI, whether it's a good idea or not.

Feel like it creates a sense of urgency for people to be on the half that survives

I think it’s a proactive statement. Entry level, and now mid level, jobs in ai, tech, sales, blockchain, etc. have been eradicated. I think it will be sooner than 5 years but IRL lower paying jobs like the trades/service industry can only provide so much employment.
