L2s made Ethereum great again: cheap & fast. But it came at the cost of its core idea...
Ethereum was built on compatibility: deploy a smart contract once and it becomes instantly reusable across the whole ecosystem.
L2s solved speed & cost problems, but at the price of fragmentation: smart contract on Base ≠ Optimism ≠ Arbitrum and so on. Now does it worth it? Kinda ironic.
