update on the eyescanning thing: ended up not going cuz timing was inconvenient for the fam and i wasn't convinced enough to push hard for it ultimately i find myself in the "big, if true" camp. i want to try out the new tech and i hope it works as advertised (no reason to think it doesnt but its early and these things take time to really shake out), but its a one-way door and i dont see a strong upside to getting scanned now vs later. really appreciate the thoughtful discussion in the replies, and esp the article that @dfern.eth wrote about his thinking on this
