Galaxies spin because of angular momentum, a relic from the universe’s early turbulence after the Big Bang. Once matter began to clump together under gravity, these small motions grew into vast rotations. Billions of years later, that same spin gives shape to majestic spiral arms that still turn silently in the infinite dark.
