I’ve been lurking thru the conversations around this app officially moving from any type of “social media” platform, and becoming a “social trading platform” (which perhaps it always has been), and I have some things to say. A lot to say, really, but I’ve been unsure how to start. My husband @clfx.eth has been part of this space for two ish years now. I remember him talking about the friendships he was making and all the inspiring people he was talking to on a daily basis — he is NOT a texter by any means, but I noticed him spending a significant amount of time replying to messages from his “internet friends” on an app I had never heard of. He was more enthusiastic and motivated than I have ever seen him after talking to people like @blankspace, @fffflood, @amc, and so on. I listened to him talk about /higher and how that inspired him profoundly, and influenced him to begin him journey into self employment to pursue design outside of his 9-5. He insisted if I posted my art here that it would mean something and go further here than other platforms since 1) the app was still small enough, and 2) the users on the app were more authentic than he had experienced ever on a “social media” platform, despite it being a space rooted in crypto. After attending FarCon NYC this year in support of him, I decided to make an account. Meeting SO many incredible people like @zoo, @errorgardener, @jordanisgreen.eth, @genuinejack, (and once again, many more), gave me my “aha” moment that he had talked about for so long. I made an account here because of the inspiring people it has connected us to, not because I understand crypto. To be completely clear, I don’t know jack shit about any of that lmao. I know this app isn’t Twitter, or Instagram, or Threads, or TikTok. That’s not what I like about it. I know this app is about coins and trading and magic internet money, and that’s also not what I like about it. I LOVE this app, because of the genuine connections I’ve found through it. I love this app because of the genuine connections my husband has found through it. I love this app because it has inspired both of us and has made a significant difference in how we’re both moving forward with our career paths. I FINALLY took the jump to rebrand my business because of the confidence I’ve gained through this app (I was DestinyIllustration since 2016 and just announced my handle as “GR3YWASH” across all platforms). Because of Farcaster we feel even more supported to make a move to NYC in the spring, and I feel incredibly optimistic about rebuilding a client base across the country. I love this app. I don’t understand crypto or trading, but I love this app. I’m gonna stick around here showing my art and shitposting, because Farcaster allowed a genuine community to exist in its own tiny corner of the internet. Higher bitch.
