A few months ago, in Costa Rica's gorgeous rainforest, I attended an adventure tour that gave thrills and insights into ecotourism. Our guide, Maria, related memories about her upbringing and the community's efforts to protect the place. We planted seedlings to aid in the forest's restoration, toured the area, and spoke with conservation volunteers.
