Tesla news TESLA RISKS $26B EARNINGS HIT IN MUSK PAY CASE $TSLA 2018 compensation deal with Elon Musk, invalidated by a court ruling, could cost $26B in future earnings if upheld on appeal. This accounting charge, spread over eight quarters, would slash profits and deepen volatility amid falling sales and fading EV subsidies, further straining investor confidence. TESLA DELAYS AI5 CHIP TO 2027; CYBERCAB TO LAUNCH ON AI4 Tesla has postponed volume production of its AI5 chip to mid-2027, pushing its advanced hardware debut beyond the April 2026 launch of the Cybercab, which will now use current-gen AI4 chips. The delay impacts robotaxi and Optimus development timelines, though AI5’s reduced 250W power draw marks a major efficiency gain for future retrofits and humanoid applications. TESLA APPROVED FOR RIDE-HAILING OPERATIONS IN ARIZONA Tesla has secured a Transportation Network Company (TNC) permit in Arizona, allowing it to launch a paid ride-hailing service akin to Uber.

Elon is basically making it clear that physical AI is a compute problem & $TSLA intends to own the silicon that solves it. The company already has millions of its own AI chips deployed in cars & data centers, it is on the 4th generation in production, AI5 is about to tape out & AI6 is already underway. It would be wild if they really hit annual chip refresh cycles & ship more AI silicon into the real world than every other player combined. Because at that point Tesla becomes the only company with a closed-loop system for physical AI where the fleet generates the data, the models are trained on their own stack & the inference runs on silicon they designed themselves. That is the advantage nobody else has.
