this is slightly overstated (not everyone who is viral to the pump ecosystem is a bad person) but I still fear that the cultural clash would be too strong (for now) between the Solana trenches + the current “discourse” on farcaster

And yup — don’t forget the sexism with the racism — and no one ran Brian off, he just didn’t see value in being here anymore but I see your point. There’s a reason these Farcaster streets haven’t seen much Solana stuff til very recently—I think a lot of us didn’t vibe with the pump crowd. All that said — Farcaster has to grow to survive and we always knew that meant change. Up to us to try to protect the vibes!

I like this take. But I’m not sure people are thinking about “pump people” coming over per se but moreso “crypto twitter influencers” I think the bigger question is whether people want CT here or not. Alon/Pump is a subset of that. (My answer is: yes, we want more engaged users; will figure out the cultural assimilation as we go. Lots of approaches for it imo)

So I totally get what you are saying, its a careful what you wish for situation, buuut.. It’s a permissionless protocol. The toxic/racist/etc accounts would get blocked, filtered by the FC app, & ideally the wheat would be separated from the chaff creating greater diversity of thought here. As people get shadow’d, a “degenerate” client emerges that does not censor the pumpfun vibe and grows the entire FC (protocol) I wish I could say the degen (token) app being built could be that wretched hive of scum & villainy. It would fit the name but idk if that’s the direction jacek wants it to go. A “trenches” switch in the FC(app) that shows the circus would be neat but unlikely Basically it’s either permissionless or it’s not. I hope Merkle has a plan for a brainrot invasion that isn’t just banning people from the official app. Whatever happens should be interesting
