This is Jasper. He's a rescue I'm taking care of in Vietnam. He was abandoned by an expat family when they left the country... left on the street to fend for himself. He's a very sweet boy. Very chill and affectionate considering all he's been through.

Excellent piece. Thank you for sharing. "does the ugliness of stupidity not scare you?" It does and its thoughless embrace terrifies me.

Agree 100% Respect to those trying new things but this idea has always seemed so completely ridiculous to me that I'm continuously shocked at how many think it will work.

I have about 5 channels left that I watch regularly and ignore everything else. Sad it's come to that.

Or their minister, priest, or rabbi, and suddenly the last few millenia make sense. 😂

Love this anecdote by David McCullough... “Once upon a time in the dead of winter in the Dakota Territory, Theodore Roosevelt took off in a makeshift boat down the Little Missouri River in pursuit of a couple of thieves who had stolen his prized rowboat. After several days on the river, he caught up and got the draw on them with his trusty Winchester, at which point they surrendered. Then Roosevelt set off in a borrowed wagon to haul the thieves cross-country to justice. They headed across the snow-covered wastes of the Badlands to the railhead at Dickinson, and Roosevelt walked the whole way, the entire 40 miles. It was an astonishing feat, what might be called a defining moment in Roosevelt’s eventful life. But what makes it especially memorable is that during that time, he managed to read all of Anna Karenina. I often think of that when I hear people say they haven’t time to read.”

I remember wanting to overthrow a corrupt sytem hell bent on transferring all of the national wealth into the hands of the few. They system coopted us, not the other way around.

Indeed. The things that got me excited about crypto are almost all gone now. I saw it slipping away after the '17 cycle. Almost no one really cares about decentralization, or privacy, for that matter. I was lucky to be early, but I don't fit in and haven't for a long time. Not really sure why I haven't fully moved on. Hope dies hard.

Was going to suggest this too. I've met a few people over the years charging pretty steep rates to help people setup self custody, explain how everything works, etc. If I recall, a guy in Bali was charging 5k for an afternoon of setup and a few hours of further consulting during the 2021 run. Of course, this was before ETF's etc. but I'm sure there's still a market. I've helped many people for free but its usually turns into a pain in the ass. Best to get paid for your time.

Al Swearengen has to be one of the best TV characters of all time. Ian McShane is a magician with these lines.

QC with you're favorite TV monologue... Hard to pick a fave from Deadwood as it all exists at the intersection of poetry and vulgarity but this one is a banger. NSFW in the extreme.... https://youtu.be/otrtP8MdrE8?si=3m16o8CVxTRq-2Qn

Same. But they won't criticize fascism or even the obvious breakdown of the rule of law happening under their noses because they are the primary beneficiaries. Hypocrites one and all.
