Telecom operators in the Philippines have begun blocking access to major cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase and Gemini after regulators tightened oversight and licensing requirements.
The move follows an order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), which instructed internet providers to restrict access to around 50 online trading platforms deemed unauthorized by the Philippine central bank.
According to user reports, multiple local networks can no longer access Coinbase and Gemini. Authorities emphasize that local operating licenses are a key requirement for platforms to legally serve the Philippine market.
