I think sometimes the weight of the world is stronger than an individual's will to be "good" and the significance of the "weight" is super relative, some are more resilient to the pressures than others, like athletes who are biologically gifted for their respective sport, maybe you're better built for "good"

Yeah, I can’t lie it does get to me sometimes. There’s also an entire ecosystem of virtue signalling from dangerous people. But if I don’t believe that at their core people are good, I don’t know how I’d continue to be a participating member of society.

It doesn’t help when the whole thing is structured to punish the well meaning. Even on here, like you see individuals fretting about tax bills on <$10 airdrops while actual criminals act with impunity
