Erg Titersin Collection of 6 This stunning stretch of sand rises from a dry, flat pan, forming a series of distinctive barchan dunes. We were crossing back through the Sahara from south to north, passing by Magdit along the remote western border between Libya and Algeria, on our way to the ancient caravan town of Ghadames. We found ourselves in the Erg Titersin, a landscape where archaeologists have uncovered stone tumuli and burial structures. Once a boundless body of water comparable in size to today’s Czech Republic, this area is now a vast expanse of sand and towering dunes. In linear formation with three vehicles we emerge from a valley and head towards the oasis of Umm Al Maa. A mystical and enchanted place in the middle of nowhere.
