When I first encountered minimalism, I misunderstood it as austerity—a stark, empty aesthetic. But embracing it became a quiet revolution in how I relate to things, and in turn, to myself.
The Shift Was Gradual It began with a single drawer. Then a closet. Each item I let go of felt like unclenching a fist I didn’t know I was holding. The physical clutter was just the surface; beneath it was a mental static of wanting—the next purchase, the upgrade, the thing that would finally make things “complete.” Letting go of objects became practice in letting go of that endless chase.
