On Tuesday local time, Trump announced that in response to Ontario's 25% transmission tax, the United States will increase tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum by another 25%, bringing the total tariff to 50%.
The new policy will take effect on Wednesday morning. He will also declare a national emergency over electricity use in the United States.
In a post on Truth Social, he strongly stated that Canada must immediately cancel the anti-American farmer tariffs of 250% to 390% imposed on a variety of American dairy products.
