do people even follow people anymore? honest question here - not trying to be passive aggressive or guilt people into following me. that's not it at all. but i'm genuinely curious... when's the last time you followed someone? i find myself logging into farcaster and twitter (yeah @adrienne i still call it that too) for a lot of reasons and clicking the follow button is one of the last actions that i do these days. i find myself feeling more "algo aware" than ever. it's not that i don't like you (whoever you are), but i feel like a follow these days, regardless of platform, is the algorithmic equivalent of stopping to give a friendly golden retriever a pat on the head only to discover that it's wildly codependent, has secretly followed you home, and now somehow already made itself part of your life forever.
