People who care about decentralisation should have a bias towards using services from a company which isn't the single globally dominant provider of that service.

In the last few years I've seen and heard so many stories of major failures by accountants, lawyers, doctors and other professional services. It's been so bad that I now carry a presumption of incompetence when hiring services. Is this new? Are others finding the same? Why?
