Someone is going to launch a physical collectible that will have an attached NFT that verifies authenticity and ownership. Physical product as the hook, digital experience as the retention. Imagine if Bearbricks or Labubus did this from the start. I think this will happen with a new collectible bc I think this makes the most sense if you plan this from the start. Every collectible has an attached NFT that can be accessed and verified via an embedded NFC chip. The hard part is nailing the narrative, storytelling and marketing around the collectible so that you can find an initial user base and grow from there. Besides that, I’d really focus on nailing the user experience so people feel appreciated and part of something. Maybe only 500 or 1000 physicals to start then you can expand and potentially gate access where past purchasers get priority access. Loot box style drops eventually similar to Labubu. Maybe eventually you could aim to collab with other IP like Bearbrick. With all the craze around collectibles like sports cards, labubus, pokemon, etc. I just think it’s a matter of time until someone nails the marketing and execution of something like this. This is how NFTs will come back and it’ll be fun. I know a few people thinking about doing something like this. I’d love to chat if you’re seriously pursuing something like this and i’d be happy to help if you’re motivated to make this happen and have an idea around a collectible character or collectible IP.
