Daily reminder: during the Mongolian expansion the average warrior had ~7 horses. Some for eating, some for riding, some for breeding, some for milking. Horse armies were massive and would exhaust all available pastures. They were nomadic not by choice but by necessity. If they weren’t nomading, the horses would starve. Mongolian armies were in perpetual dynamic equilibrium. Likewise, landed nobles couldn’t manage the logistics necessary to defend against these dynamic equilibrium armies.
