It’s disheartening to see how free speech is under attack on both sides of the Atlantic. In Europe, left-wing policies threaten to criminalize social media posts, while in the US, right-wing sentiments push for deportation over campus protests. Fortunately, the robust First Amendment in the US makes the latter scenario highly unlikely. Still, it’s alarming that principled defenders of free speech among public figures are few and far between. We need more voices like Nadine Strossen and Ira Glasser, who have tirelessly advocated for free expression.
