Insane that IMAX 70MM for The Odyssey are already selling out a year ahead.

I'm sure folks will drive for hours or even fly to these theaters to watch it that's why.

Building Farcaster

Traveled 3 hours on a business trip to US to catch Oppenheimer in 70mm. Not worth the hype for that kind of movie - but Odyssey definitely sounds like a better fit.

for the love of god, why do I feel like the lone japanese soldier after the war has ended advocating for high-quality audio and video standards? 

movies sound different when they're not played on shitty PA speakers
movies look different when projected from a print or 4k laser

people want this stuff, they do not want generic experiences

this is wild, maybe market dependent. I dont normally look at IMAX this far in advance in New Orleans but maybe they also fill up?
