Airdrop leaderboards often reward whales disproportionately, consolidating tokens in fewer hands. This undermines fairness and risks creating centralized power within “decentralized” ecosystems. Smaller participants may lose motivation when rewards appear unattainable. For projects, designing diminishing returns or tiered incentives can help spread rewards more evenly. Concentration drives speculation but weakens long-term community trust.
