ival, also known as Roodharigendag, originated in the Netherlands in 2005 as a result of a newspaper ad placed by painter Bart Rouwenhorst. He was looking for 15 red-haired models for a painting and received over 150 responses. To accommodate all the interested women, Rouwenhorst organized a group photo shoot, which inadvertently led to the first gathering of redheads and the informal start of the festival.

Inspiration for the Festival:
This initial gathering sparked the idea for an annual event, leading to the formalization of Redhead Days.

Growth:
The festival has grown significantly since its informal beginnings, attracting thousands of redheads from around the world.

Guinness World Record:
The festival even holds a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of natural redheads.
