Early last summer, I was at a party with some folks who are highly east coast liberal. One of them exclaimed "of course she's retarded!" when another suggested one of their neighbors, a sheltered older woman who had pro-Republican signs on her lawn, might be be suffering from some sort of mental handicap
Was by far the most disgusting example of exactly this type of phenomenon I've ever personally witnessed
