Thinking of moving out this year -i had these thoughts mid last year and almost went through with it around november when i realized i was my mother’s last surviving son and didn’t want anything that’d make her worry, but now i’ve come to the conclusion that being here is holding me back and i actually need to lock in and better my future. Any tips a 22yr old would need for living alone is welcome and very much appreciated.

I have my place, but i’ve come to realize that the idea of living alone is half peer pressure, quarter getting older, quarter our African parents dragging us all the time. Sometimes we want to be free of them and also be able to be free in our place and letting friends know. I’m just saying, it’s not wrong being on either side, there’s a version that can be better even with your parents, there’s a version that can be better living alone.

Consider a roommate/house mate. Helped when I first moved out, caused was used to having people in my space, then gradually got mine after like a year. You'll get frustrated at some point but it's worth it over all
