Sybil detection is maturing and will significantly reduce low-effort farming but won’t eradicate it entirely. Modern defenses combine graph clustering (transaction/interaction patterns), reputation fields, funding-source heuristics, timing fingerprints, and cross-protocol behavior to flag coordinated clusters. Machine learning classifiers and manual audits further refine precision. Projects often apply progressive penalties—score decay, reduced multipliers, or full exclusion—rather than binary bans, to lower false positives. Determined farm operators may still adapt, so Sybil controls must evolve; nevertheless, well-implemented detection materially raises the cost and reduces ROI of multi-wallet farming.
