We've officially entered the age of "Vibe Hacking". Anthropic just released a report on a sophisticated cyber espionage campaign carried out by a Chinese state-sponsored group using Anthropic's AI models (see comments). This is one of the first documented large-scale cyberattacks executed without substantial human intervention (and honestly could be a case study the Anthropic's sales team could share with Lazarus). It's clear that the very abilities that allow AI to be used in these attacks can also be used for cyber defense. After seeing the improvements in AI cyber capabilities in the past year, I strongly recommend every security team to start experimenting with AI for tasks like threat detection, SOC automation, triaging, incident response and remediation.
