There is deep animosity toward Iran among many Sunni‑majority Muslim countries because Tehran has spent decades leveraging U.S.–Israeli policy in the region against Sunni states to advance its own statecraft; now, however, it is Iran’s turn to face the full onslaught of U.S.–Israeli imperial power, and it remains to be seen where this will lead.
