Ron Asheton’s minimalist guitar riff and the obsessive single-note piano part set the standard for the future of punk rock. Iggy Pop’s lyrics, with their hints of masochism and the rebellious spirit of Detroit’s streets, became a manifesto for a generation. “I Wanna Be Your Dog” remains one of the most influential rock compositions, inspiring Sex Pistols, Nirvana, The White Stripes, and many others. I highly recommend listening to it.
