The Odyssey
This film was gorgeous.
Saw it in 70 mm, third row, center w the family at 10:15 pm. Everything sold out, 300 person theater.
The practical effects were so enjoyable. Sound design, just as great. The film really moved quite fast, for a three hour sitting.
This film also had A list, choice actors throughout. To me, this is where things sour. It’s hard to pinpoint who was worse, especially since these are, for the most part, very talented actors. I could tell the B listers were trying to carry some depth for them but man, the flat-line almost monotone drama, punctured with modern day out-of-place quips for a giggle here n there was difficult to get around.
This is no fault to the talent, the director has to direct and Nolan failed to do so. We’ll likely see some people up for best & supporting actors but I don’t think those are earned.
Love to hear what you thought…
