🗣 Quantum threat to Bitcoin: millions of dormant coins under question
CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju stated that a quantum upgrade could require freezing about 1 million BTC tied to Satoshi Nakamoto, along with millions of coins on old wallets.
According to his estimates, up to 6.89 million BTC may become vulnerable due to potential breakthroughs in quantum computing.
The biggest obstacle is reaching consensus, as freezing coins goes against Bitcoin’s core principles and may result in forks.
