One of the best things about landlines was when you were meeting up with someone for any reason you had to actually show up around the time you said you were going to. There was no way for some flaky fuck to text you thirty two excuses as to why they are late. Or cancel at the last second. I'd imagine people kept meetings/appointments at a much higher rate.
