Ferrari is working on an upside-down hydrogen engine. Ferrari is developing an upside-down hydrogen internal combustion engine that moves the crankshaft up to provide more space for the hydrogen tanks, but presents a serious lubrication challenge. The proposed solution is to use a dry sump lubrication system with a separate tank and electric pumps controlled by the ECU.
