We’ve shipped the first three roc.camera devices from /faust and more start going out today 🪨 🎉 Back in Oct 2024 we set a north star: build a camera that captures verifiably real moments for humans in the age of AI And so here is our raw v1: 80% now, working on the last 20% -- excited to start testing that hypothesis today We’ve been beta testing with a few folks the past few weeks and ironing out bugs / issues. Big thanks to the folks that have been willing testers (@7858.eth, @nicholas and @austink) Interested in providing feedback / testing? Updates on Roc Camera: - Domestic orders shipping starting in May is our current estimate (may still slip) - Software work has been focused on bug fixes in video streaming (a lot of gstreamer / WebRTC / RTSP / H.264 codec fixes we’ve been slogging through) - Also want to make sure it’s GPU hardware accelerated - Hardware side is done - Currently wrapping up optimizing for manufacturability - We've printed all the lenses - Next we'll print all the other individual components in batch one by one - Then after, we’ll tackle assembly - All our boxes that we ordered months ago have all arrived - Then need to get all the stickers that go on the devices - Then we will be shipping them out

It’s funny that the moment we all suddenly got really clear eyed about how capital & power wields trad media, most non boomers dropped Fox and MSNBC en masse… andddd we all shifted straight to algo-feeds and “content creators.” the legacy media issues are real, but new media is just as bad We are not closer to the truth reading our substacks, we just each have our optimized feeds. Everyone has their influencers, their “current thing”. Platforms surface or repress according to their interests. Reporters and influencers fight for attention, streamers scrapping it out in an ever escalating war for reactions Our perception is “alternative media,” but it’s just a new, enormous industry. Highly centralized, too. It feels different though, and we enjoy imaging ourselves as rational. The independent thinkers, blissfully unaware
