What mountain view in the Northwest took your breath away: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Shasta, or Mt. Hood?
All three really. I have seen all of them many times and all three of them take my breath away. They are all part of the Cascade Range that stretches from Northern California to Southern British Columbia. It’s a spectacular volcanic range created from the subduction of the Juan De Fuca Plate moving underneath the North American Plate. It makes the geology of the Pacific Northwest very special with unbelievable mountain scenes like the three below.
It is hard to choose. Each in their own right takes my breath away. But…. if I had to choose, I would probably take Mount Shasta because it is from my home State of California. That said, Mount Rainier with its amazing glaciers and its views from the Puget Sound with the city; Rainier’s grandeur is rarely matched.
